B.C. pot producer Tilray weighs IPO
https://www.theglobeandmail.com/business/article-bc-pot-producer-tilray-weighs-ipo/ Tilray Inc. is looking to become the next big publicly traded medical cannabis producer. According to people familiar with the matter, the British Columbia-based company is working with BMO Nesbitt Burns Inc. and New York-based investment bank Cowen and Co. on an initial public offering. At this time, Tilray is weighing a listing south of the border, the people said, asking not to be identified because the details are not public. As Canada’s last major privately owned marijuana grower, Tilray has watched from the sidelines while dozens of other cannabis companies have gone public in Canada to great fanfare and used their shares as currency to make acquisitions. On the other hand, Tilray is one of four North American cannabis assets owned by Seattle-based private equity firm Privateer Holdings Inc., which has raised about US$250-million during the past five years to help finance these businesses. Could Aphria be coming for Maricann? -
I am writing this in hope of finding some more details. I was digging through Aphria filings, and ended up in a different direction because I noticed names tied to Maricann. The two names I found tied up in Aphria filings were Paul Pathak (the now interim Chairman of Maricann), also David Danzinger from MNP (the new Auditor for Maricann announced last month). It was the article that I am sure you all can remember regarding Ben Ward saying that someone/something is looking to take over Maricann being one of the reasons for the botched deal. It was also Paul Pathak the interim chairman who came out and nullified the statement. Lets start with Paul Pathak. He has connections dating back many years to the company who brought Aphria public. Delavaco Group. Paul Pathak was a senior director for a firm by the name of Fareport Capital Inc. This was in the early 2000's. Now the significance of Fareport Capital Inc, is that this is where the relationship begins with Delavaco (the number one... https://www.reddit.com/r/weedstocks/comments/8q106j/could_aphria_be_coming_for_m...

L3's growth strategy guided by credit rating risk
For L3 Technologies Inc (LLL.N), it's not a case of if but when the maker of everything from airport scanners to night vision equipment for the military will get bigger through acquisitions. The path that recently minted Chairman and CEO Chris Kubasik takes to deliver that growth to investors, however, is the big question. Bankers and industry executives are watching closely to see if L3 risks its investment grade credit rating with a major deal that could dwarf its acquisitions in the past. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/l3s-growth-strategy-guided-credit-050606163.html?...

Regardless of the impact upon immediately reportable earnings, we would rather buy 10% of Wonderful Business T at X per share than 100% of T at 2X per share. Most corporate managers prefer just the reverse, and have no shortage of stated rationales for their behavior. However, we suspect three motivations - usually unspoken - to be, singly or in combination, the important ones in most high-premium takeovers: (1) Leaders, business or otherwise, seldom are deficient in animal spirits and often relish increased activity and challenge. At Berkshire, the corporate pulse never beats faster than when an acquisition is in prospect. (2) Most organizations, business or otherwise, measure themselves, are measured by others, and compensate their managers far more by the yardstick of size than by any other yardstick. ACB short term future?
I hold ACB at around $9.14. It's no question that ACB have diluted themselves with the acquisitions lately but what are some thoughts for short term? Will we see ACB hit a new 52 week high come legalization or shortly after or have they dug themselves into a hole until they can either show results based on the recent merger? I'm wondering if I should sell in the next couple weeks if the price gets closer to my average (at a loss still) and buy more WEED, hoping to make more money and cover my losses on ACB, maybe look at them down the road if they can show results. Thoughts? submitted by /u/Goose506 [link] [comments] https://www.reddit.com/r/weedstocks/comments/8kaybq/acb_short_term_future/

Unlike AB, my research has been casual over those years, but still concentrated. Going on my 5th year of researching, my thoughts are summed up in this comment. Please understand that this comment is for me, my clients, and in no way should anyone reading this post follow my current conclusion. My view is that cannabis will eventually legalize world-wide. I had never imagined this in 2013. The industry was plagued with what I consider to be less than stellar operators. I used to clearly but DP in this category, but I am open to relaxing that view. As the industry progresses, larger players will enter the industry. I think... https://www.reddit.com/r/weedstocks/comments/8hxtu0/my_smg_investment_notes/

Short Positions in GLH
I was wondering about opinions surrounding the short positions in GLH. The Canadian Securities Exchange has 14.6 million shares being shorted, of that Golden Leaf Holdings accounts for 11 million shares ( http://thecse.com/en/trading/market-activity/activity-summaries/short-positions ). They seem to have pissed someone off along the way. They just finished financing to complete four acquisitions (although only one is officially through), and during the last conference call they said they expect to be cash flow positive in the near future. It seems like the perfect candidate for a short squeeze, as news should be coming out surrounding the acquisitions and the days to cover short positions is over 80. They ran into problems with Marion County, but they seem to have corrected those issues. After the mergers they'll be the largest MJ company in the US by revenue, with seven brands (again according to the last conference call). Really interested if someone has insight (beyond name calling... https://www.reddit.com/r/weedstocks/comments/6isc97/short_positions_in_glh/
