Annual cycles in this sector....
I'm relatively new to this sector. Started paying attention around December / January. Started investing in April. I hear a lot of people talking about how summers are "slow" / "boring" in this sector and that activity tends to pick up in the fall / winter. I was just wondering why do these cycles exist in this sector? What causes it? I understand that first legal sales Oct 17th will be a major catalyst with tons of media attention but this catalyst didn't exist in 2017 fall / winter or the year before, so what caused those run ups? Is it purely speculative to assume that fall / winter volumes will pick up? Or is there some material cause to these cycles? Appreciate any input especially from investors who have been around for several cycles. submitted by /u/punography [link] [comments] https://www.reddit.com/r/weedstocks/comments/8wcauf/annual_cycles_in_this_sector...

[Looking] to start investing in weed stocks. Best brokerages?
Hi all, I am currently in the process of researching weed stocks and was curious to know what are some of the brokers you guys use, with their respective fees? I'm not looking to day trade, more on holding side, but would like to cash out within 2-5 years time frame to possibly fund another project. As stated before, just getting into this space, kinda late, but still believe there is a good amount of gains to be made. Looking primarily for companies operating within Canada/US, especially on the US side with the upcoming legalizations. As for stocks, I started doing some light researching on the below and am definitely open to hearing more about your opinions/facts/resources: CGC ( most expensive and the behemoth of the space is what i have gathered so far) Aurora Aphria APH LDS EVIO iAN TGIFF submitted by /u/lekwinder [link] [comments] https://www.reddit.com/r/weedstocks/comments/8vo6ri/looking_to_start_investing_i...

Canopy Rivers invests in reverse takeover of ALZ for Solo Growth Corp to open retail locations
Has anyone been following the reverse takeover of ALZ by Solo Growth Corp? They are ran by the same people who run Canada’s largest independent liquor retail out west “ solo liquor”. They are going to brand the dispensaries as “ Yellow Submarine brought to you by Solo”. With canopy rivers investing what looks to be about 10%+ of the company and it being ran by the people who run Canada’s largest independent liquor retailer it seems to be a good play for retail exposure. They are planning to roll out 60 dispensaries over the next 3 years ( license permitting). looking for any constructive input from this sub and different points of view on the matter. GL all. Happy Canada day !! submitted by /u/420football [link] [comments] https://www.reddit.com/r/weedstocks/comments/8vb6oy/canopy_rivers_invests_in_rev...

An odd question for you Redditors with a large number of shares in your portfolio...
QUICK BACKGROUND: I'm in my early thirties, have a solid career, a house etc. I have always wanted to get involved with investing growing up, but found it to be such a "scary beast" to learn that I held off on anything other than basic mutual funds. Weed stocks is my first foray into this world of brokerage accounts and buying / selling stocks. So far, it's been one heck of a learning experience, and I'm excited for what the growth this industry will experience in the years to come. I just wish I had more money to invest! Like many adults in their 30s, I don't have a lot of liquid capital. So, unfortunately, I can only invest a couple thousand dollars at this time. Obviously with the hopes of reinvesting the growth I achieve into additional stocks opportunities in various markets etc. I see many threads with individuals talking about owning thousands upon thousands of dollars worth of shares in various companies. $100k of shares here, $50k of shares there etc. MY QUESTION: For those... https://www.reddit.com/r/weedstocks/comments/8u6weu/an_odd_question_for_you_redd...

ACBFF vs. CGC long term hold
I am new to the cannabis industry and investing in general, but I believe that this industry has a lot of potential. Is ACBFF or CGC a better long term hold? I saw that ACBFF announced a $200 million debt facility earlier today, however the stock was down a few percentage points. Would it be a bad idea to hold shares of both? I would appreciate any feedback. submitted by /u/tmochs [link] [comments] https://www.reddit.com/r/weedstocks/comments/8u4p64/acbff_vs_cgc_long_term_hold/

QCA yay or nay?
How're we feeling about QCA (Quinsam Capital Corp)? Pros: Strong investments (especially Acreage and US holdings) Strong growth in income each quarter Dividends Steady price Solid leadership Cons: No idea if they'll dilute sometime in the near future Recently made a risky play into Ontario (company it invested in applied for license very late + Ontario is looking hella rocky in terms of legalization) Invested in many small companies which may not be likely to survive May get bought by Aphira in the near future (multiple Aphira heads involved) Focus on the US may result in delay in rise until after Canadian legalization (thus investing has an opportunity cost) submitted by /u/Oatmeal787 [link] [comments] https://www.reddit.com/r/weedstocks/comments/8tmv92/qca_yay_or_nay/

Question about THCX -> HEXO rebrand
I’m confused about an aspect of the Hydropothecary Corp’s rebrand to HEXO. I’m with RBC direct investing, and my THCX position is obviously stagnant, locked in at $5.30CAD. I can’t sell, because the symbol no longer exists. Is my entire position now completely worthless? If not, how can I ‘convert’ my THCX position to HEXO?
